Wow! It was fabulous to meet each other as a 'classroom family' and to start to make connections and build community together. Thanks to all students who tried their best, and I know that looks different for everyone. I bet we will all have stories to share and be ready for a good night sleep!
Guess what? We were so lucky to meet our student teacher! Ms. Treena Pretty Youngman will be with us today and tomorrow and then she will be back at MRU learning. The remainder of her practicum will be November 1-December 6th. We welcome her to our class and school with open arms!
Things to talk about:
Ask your child about the book we read - Beautiful Hands and what we did after reading it?
Ask your child about today's assembly in the afternoon. Maybe he/she can sing our new part of the Copperfield Song?
We were going to learn a dance at the assembly, but didn't have time! However, we learned some of the moves ahead of time in class....maybe your child can demo the 'cowboy boogie' or the 'butterfly'?
Families, we are looking for the following items by the end of this week:
- clean and labelled yogurt containers (or similar) for each student - NEED 22!
- newspaper, flyers - not the glossy ones, newsprint cut into small strips (or send it in whole)
- volunteers to help several times during the week of Sept 9th - 13th for an art project (2 to three half days, or so)
Homework -
1. Bring back the completed/coloured Mini Me for Wednesday morning. Let's see if they can ALL BE RETURNED, so I can attach a picture and laminate it. This is used for attendance.
2. PLEASE go to the school website and print off, complete and return the opening forms! If you already sent in these forms, THANKS!
Thanks for a memorable first day together!
I look forward to many more learning opportunities tomorrow!
