We had some Kindness Ninjas visit us today!

Things to remember:
  • Bring in a travel mug or mug (safely carried with your name) to use in class tomorrow.  It will come home tomorrow at lunch.
  • Don't forget to bring your SECRET GNOME permission slip so you can participate.

Kindergarten visited to spread kindness - they were our Kindness Ninjas!
This goes perfectly with our building kindness and caring for our classmates with our upcoming SECRET GNOME!  We will see what it feels like to GIVE from the hear!

This is our Closest to the Gnarly (do the universal surfing sign) Number game we played in Math today.  Students played (aka learned) with a partner to estimate, then show any addition strategy to see who got closest to the Gnarly Number (100, 1000 or 10 000).  They had a lot of fun.  I am sure they could play this at home with you.  You just need a deck of cards and some paper.

For Social Studies we are researching Alberta's Natural Regions.  We are looking for facts about each of the 6 regions.  Some of the categories are the Indigenous Tribes, Vegetation, Animals, Waterways, etc.  We had troubles finding a map with the regions and the Tribe,s so some students traced one on our window. Then Ms. Treena taped a map with some Tribes behind so we can add these facts to our research notes.

A student inspired finger knitting during our indoor recess this afternoon!

The Nutcracker - lyrics to our song: Do What You Love (sounds beautiful already)!!

It was so cold today!

Don't forget your SECRET GNOME form!

They are due tomorrow!  We are actually doing the Secret Gnome activities Monday, Dec 2 - the 6th!

We had one of our grade 1 buddies be the 'teacher' for Science - Light and Shadows yesterday.  She had a special water bottle that was_______________.  If you remember the word, please whisper it to me in the morning when you arrive!

We had a BLUE DAY today....here's what we did at lunch to stay warm:

Please DRESS FOR THE COLD TEMPERATURES!

Hello everyone!

We had fun at recess this afternoon outside.  Some little fingers were FREEZING!  Please remember your mittens!

Homework -
1) Secret Gnome letter!  Please check your backpack and decide if you want to do this KIND, FREE, FUN activity.  If this interests you, please complete the form and return it ASAP!  It was really fun last year.  This won't cost a thing and was explained in class (but there is a letter too).  This is voluntary.

2) Bring a re-usable mug to use on Friday!  (Make sure it has your name on it and wrap it safe, we will return it on Friday).

Thank you ALL
It was so nice to see all our families at conferences!  Thanks for making the time to speak with us.  We appreciate your time and the conversations we had to move your student's learning forward!  Kids - I loved seeing you with your loved ones!  I felt a lot of pride all around.  :)

Winter Concert is Coming:
Our class performs on December 11th!

Grade 1-4 Students
Similar to last year, we are double casting the winter concert. Below is the list of when each class performs.Because of fire regulations and gym capacity, it is imperative that only immediate family (parents, siblings) attend the evening shows! We are counting on the honour system for this to work, and hoping it will not be necessary to start ticketing student concerts. Grandparents and other family members are welcome to come to the dress rehearsal show during the day.

If you have several children at our school and their performances do not fall on the same night, we ask that you chose one night to come. The show is the same both nights so both (or all) your children can perform on one night with the other class who is performing their song. If your childrens’ concerts do not fall on the same night, please send an e-mail to all teachers involved as well as myself (nasayer@cbe.ab.ca) letting us know which night you plan to come.

Group A: Wednesday, Dec.11 Dress Rehearsal at 10:00am, Concert at 6:30pm

The Show:
The concert is a traditional version of The Nutcracker, featuring Tchaikovsky’s beautiful melodies and lyrics by Sally Albrecht and features a ‘front stage’ story as well! Info about which class does which song will be coming shortly. The music blog will have all this information as well.
