Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy your long weekend!

Students, do you get this joke?  (small lol)

DUE DATE:
Pictures can be ordered online through Lifetouch until October 11.

Things we are grateful for:
10.  Food!  We are eating our snacks and we are grateful for our yummy, filling snacks.
9.  Water!  We couldn't survive without it.  In Canada we have easy access to clean, fresh water.
8.  School.  So we can learn about OPERATIONS (+-x/) in Math.  So we can prepare for jobs!
7.  Houses, because they keep up warm in the cold weather.
6. Oxygen, because if we didn't have it no living thing would be on this Earth!
5. Trees! They give us OXYGEN, make paper, clothing, money, shade, houses and beauty.
4. Clothes, so we aren't naked when we go to school (oh, and to KEEP US WARM)!
3. Friends, because they keep us company, happiness, and life would be boring without them.
2. FAMILY!  So they can spoil us (lol), for life, for cuddles and feeling better! THANKS ;)
1. YOU!!!!
(honourable mentions: plants, technology, animals, pets, fun, books, almost freedom, days off to sleep in, chocolate, pizza, ice cream, DQ, Costa Vida, etc.)

SENT HOME TODAY:
-Class Photo
-Homework - Thanksgiving Mini Book and assessment (parents need to help) DUE TUESDAY!

***************************

Enjoy your Friday off, it is a PD Day for teachers!  Then we all get Monday as a holiday to spend time with our loved ones.  In class, many of us shared our traditions!
My wish for you is that you enjoy your time together!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Joke: What do you get when you cross a snowman and a tiger? (scroll to end of today's post for the answer) This joke was shared by a student - AJ!

What are we learning in school?
Check out the CURRICULUM LETTERS to find out!

Each grade team has created a Curriculum Term Letter to communicate with families about the learning that their child will be doing from September to December. The term plan specifies curricular outcomes that the grade will be focusing their instruction and assessment around. It is our hope that this letter will begin to provide you with a clear picture of your child’s learning over the year.

You can find your child’s Curriculum Term Letter on our school website under Classes & Departments and the Resources on the right hand side of the page.  Or simply CLICK HERE for OURS!

Language Arts (Writing):
Today we learned about sentences and practiced BUILDING BETTER SENTENCES!
Sentences start with a capital letter and end with a mark (.!?).  They have a WHO or WHAT (subject or noun) and an action or what's happening (verb or predicate).

Here are some of the best sentences we made:

First Try and then our BETTER SENTENCE!

I like Banff. > When I visit Banff, I especially like to stay when it is winter because it is really pretty!~SC

I ran. > I ran as fast as I can across the street, around the pond back to school! ~GC

I play. > I play with my sister. > I play with my sister, with Lego and with other blocks. ~IW & LGr

I like ice cream. > I love ice cream because there are so many flavours. ~SR

I play.  > At my local basketball court, I play basketball everyday doing drills with my friends. ~AM

My Switch is fun. > My Nintendo Switch has a game called Scribble Knots Showdown and it is fun! ~AB

Math - Today students participated in a pre-assessment and each question was read to them out loud. This was a multiple choice assessment.  We will finish the assessment tomorrow.  This will help guide our Math learning and help to show growth throughout the year.

LOOKS LIKE THE TEMPERATURE IS CHANGING AGAIN!
Please make sure you are dressed with warm clothing, hat, mitts, boots.  We plan to go outside for recess and lunch!
