Three things coming home!

Hello lovely families of THE best grade 4 students around!

Please expect notes home from School council about: 
(OOPS!  I forgot until now, 3:15, so here are photos in the mean time!  I am so sorry!!!)

- PLAYGROUND GRAND OPENING on Sept. 26th (but we have been allowed to play since yesterday....since I forgot here is a photo (original will make it's way home tomorrow)!!!

- PARKSFEST on Sept 21 (attend to VOTE and you can WIN).  Since my memory is short...here is a photo of what will come home Friday morning!

Also RAZ KIDS log in information came home today!  Our class is: Kross54 (and they students have their own password).

Things to ask your child about:

• We had buddies.  Who was your buddy class?  What is your buddy's name?
• We had Ms. Handelsman come in for a digital citizenship lesson.  What did you learn?
• In Math, we explored making big, small numbers and closest to 5000.  What does ascending mean?  Share some numbers in expanded form (hint: 431 = 400 + 30 +1)

*I am looking for a Room Parent to help me organize volunteers and celebrations.  If you are interested and have current CBE volunteer clearance, please email me at kaross@cbe.ab.ca

*Also, if you are interested in coming in to the class on a regular basis to help with reading and/or gluing, cutting, photocopying, arts, building, etc please let me know via email or a note.

Wow!  Again, I consider myself very lucky to teach your children.  They are so creative, patient and great at following the steps of PAPER MACHE.  We couldn't have done this art experience without your donations of yogurt containers, newsprint and of course our AMAZING VOLUNTEERS!  Thanks to Amanda, Brianne and Tamara for coming on Monday afternoon to make sure our students were successful with their hot air balloons.

ASK YOUR STUDENT ABOUT - When is 6 not a 6?  Also, have him/her explain what the 5 and 4 mean in these numbers:
a) 4 050
b) 53 421

Here is our classmate writing the next sequence of numbers on the paper and then projecting it to the class.  We are just starting to remember (what we forgot over the summer) about PLACE VALUE to the 10 000s!  Last year we learned up to the 1000s.
