REMEMBER -

  • Reading Book Reviews are due MONDAY, MARCH 2nd!  We will be sharing these in class on Monday and be making a class book with them.  Do your BEST work. Remember the novel, Frecklejuice, I read to you and the Book Review I showed you on the Doc Cam as a guide.
  • TWAS is due Monday!  Most of you wrote about Albert's Bench!  Some of you wrote about Pink Shirt Day, Constable Mattice's visit and lesson about making choices!
  • Learning Partnership (EA) with BMO/Coppercares Job Applications are due first thing Monday, March 2nd.  5 students already handed theirs in this past week, thank you!
  • We will have Auskick back on Thursday and Friday of this week.

OPPORTUNITY:

Does someone in your family have a favourite book or love to read?  IF SO, we'd love them to come in and be a GUEST READER for our class!  Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, are welcome to come read their favourite book to us!  Just have your SPECIAL GUEST READER 'wannabe' email Mrs. Ross (kaross@cbe.ab.ca) to set up a time and date to come in.  I can even suggest some books or borrow them from our library!

THIS WEEK AT SCHOOL....

Jarrod from Auskick taught us Footy!  This is Australian Football.

Our School Police Officer, Constable Mattice, read us the book: The Three Questions, and taught us about making good choices!

We had a science building challenge to make a bench for Albert our class dino! We had to use a fastening technique that we learned about.  This was about planning, cooperating, persevering and experimenting!  This was our first iteration and we have a chance to improve our first prototype on Monday.  Here's us in action:

I wonder what we will learn or discover or be curious about next week?

Pink Shirt Day!

Pink Shirt Day

Today was Pink Shirt Day to stand up to bullying.  We had a talk about lifting people up and doing the right thing.  The grade 3s performed a wonderful assembly to share about the day and importance of being kind.  Here is a picture of our class in our pink attire:

PROUD TEACHER.....
Thanks to all the students who completed their good copy pen pal letter over the weekend!  They are FINALLY ready to send.  Everyone works at a different pace but we were running out of time (6 weeks or so in class). This may happen from time to time, but I try to give many in class chances.  I am so thrilled with the effort, responsibility and engagement in this authentic (real life) task!
