We sure lucked out on the weather this morning for our Terry Fox Run!

Terry Fox Run:
Students showed a lot of determination, focus, perseverance, grit, athleticism when running around the pond for our run!  We looked at some pictures from the non-fiction book called, Terry using the doc cam on the Smartboard.  Thanks to our students for 'giving it their all' when running and for the many donations!  Please stay tuned for a school total!

Preparing for the run with our grade 1 buddy class!
The start!

Adding donations for the cause!

Families joined us on this beautiful Fall morning.

Thanks for cheering us on, Brianne!

The gorgeous Fall colours to inspire us along the way.

Waiting for our classmates to finish the run and playing together in the sun.

Wait for it.....

Yahoo, we did our personal best!

The class (sadly, a few friends were under the weather).

Our puff ball challenge seems to be working!  We have gotten so many of these 'warm fuzzies' for working together to make our classroom a space where we can learn at our best!  We are motivated to 'fill the bucket' by showing grade 4 expected behaviours and taking responsibility for our learning.  Together, we have a goal to achieve 30 minutes extra time using computers for Raz Kids, and other learning sites.

Today, I read: When I was Eight, by Christy Jordan-Fenton and Margaret Pokiak-Fenton.  It is a picture book story about residential schools.  We discussed a start of Canada's history and we are doing some beginning learning about Reconciliation.

Tomorrow, Friday, September 27th we hope to be hand sewing using a blanket stitch!  We have our student teacher, Ms. Treena and a few volunteers to help us.

Remember Monday, September 30th is Orange Shirt Day.  If you have an ORANGE SHIRT, please wear it!

Home Reading has started!
During conferences I sent book bags (to temporarily use this year) with some families and the rest came home Monday with school books to read.  Remember to read daily and to return the sheet once you read a book.  Refresh those school home reading books regularly, about a week each!

Say "Cheese!"

A BEHIND the SCENES look at Picture Day!  Of course we had to share our silly selves!  You will have to wait for the REAL NICE one to arrive with the orders.  This is just a preview!

This is certainly one of the years with the BEST DRESSED students!  I have never seen so many party dresses and suit jackets.  I am pleased to announce that everyone seemed to brush their teeth, comb their hair and put on their biggest smiles!  Well, almost everyone!  ;) Here's our latest photoshoot with these celebrities.....

Science - Plants and Plant Growth!
The Sunflower Saga of 2019 continues!  These beauties popped this past week or so!  Now if only the frost/snow could stay away so seeds can form (for the birds)!  These are Mrs. Ross' attempts!  They are taller than her eavestrough!  I wonder why the leaves are bigger than my head??? What do you know about plants that would help you figure this out?

This one is trying so hard!  I have watered it so much!!!
Ms. Sulatyky's crop this year!  Can you see where the seeds (the yummy treats we sometimes eat) form?

Way to go!  Let's check her thumb to see if it is green??

Hello my friends....
