What's the story of my name?

As part of social studies, literacy and health, we read the story called: Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes, in class today.  This is a story about a girl who learns to love her name.  This story is a wonderful discussion about THE STORY OF MY NAME!  In class, students made a graphic organizer to:

  •  retell the story in 3-4 sentences,
  • make a connection (during the read we made many text to self connections)
  • wonder about the story/message with a question
  • create a small visual (image from the story)
For homework, STUDENTS NEED TO ASK YOU THE STORY OF THEIR NAME!  This might take 10 minutes or so.  Each student needs to fill out the graphic with their details!  We will be sharing this tomorrow in class, to DISCOVER more about how WE ARE CONNECTED! THIS IS HOMEWORK!

Request:
Please have a look around your house.  We are looking for orange felt!  If you have any laying around your house, please let me know or send it to school.  THANKS FOR YOUR TIME!

Coming Home Today:
-School Clothing order forms
-homework (see above)

Share about WHOLE BODY LISTENING!  Parents might get some of the jokes!

Lunch Room NEWS

Playground

We are so excited that we have the playground open and ready for us to enjoy. With a new playground come some changes to support entry and exit into the school. To help support the space around the playground and keeping everyone safe at Copperfield School, we are putting a schedule in place for the mornings before school. This will help ease congestion and supervision of the students on the playground.

Playground Schedule (8:10am-8:25am)
K- Friday
1- Thursday
2- Wednesday
3- Tuesday
4- Monday

We appreciate your support in helping us communicate and employ this schedule with your students.

In addition, in order to ensure the safety of students, there are some entry and exit door changes for certain classes. As of Tuesday, September 17, 2019 the following will be in place. Teachers will be reviewing this change with you children today so they are also aware of their new door.

Door F (Green)- Kindergarten (Grant, Montgomery, Norrie, Handelsman)
Door E (Orange)- Ly, Granger, Bredahl, Thouin, Depner
Door B (Yellow)- Molsberry, Reilly, Soulliere, Dunlop

We thank you in advance for your flexibility as our student population continues to grow.
