So glad to see everyone bundled up today! Looks like we are in a DEEP FREEZE the whole week!

Good morning!

Phys. Ed.: Students got to warm up in gym first thing this morning.  They were challenged to run 7 laps to warm up, then stretch.  We are working on Perseverance (not giving up) and had a LAVA challenge.  It was team work and creativity.  We will continue this tomorrow, as it is a wonderful challenge.

Math - Grade 4 Curriculum: Number-- Describe and apply mental mathematics strategies to determine basic multiplication facts to 9 × 9 and related division facts.
Understand and apply strategies for multiplication and related division facts to 9 x 9.
Recall multiplication and related division facts to 7 x 7.

Students brought home a goal for learning the multiplication times tables last week.  Each student conferenced with me and we wrote a positive accomplishment and a goal to work on.  We are practicing in class and students are encouraged to work on this at home too!  Ways to learn up to 7 x 7 fast as a snap are: card games (like Quick Draw, Horseshoes or Squares) which we have played in class.  Verbal games like call and answer or magic numbers, a parent or older child can call an equation and your grade 4 student could reply as fast as they can.  Mathletics is also a fantastic way to practice.

If music is your thing...here is a MASH UP for practicing the 5 tables!

Missing - TWAS....if it is at home, please send it to school as soon as you are able to!

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS....I am looking for someone to regularly come in to the class on a weekly basis to help out with tasks, read with students, play math games, and/or help with book exchange for home reading.  Please EMAIL or let Mrs. Ross know, the date and time you are willing to come in!  THANKS :)
