Read-A-Thon

Reading:

  • Just a reminder to record your reading on your calendar!  If you lost the calendar that was given to you, you can print one by clicking this LINK.  Also, check the calendar for the SPECIAL DAYS!  There were rumours, that PJ Day is on the wrong day!  I double checked and PJ DAY is FRIDAY, March 6th.
  • Also, students have a new book to read for their March Book Review!  I haven't sent home the criteria yet, but it will be a little different.  Students will continue to read daily (at school and home) to finish their book but, complete the Book Review for homework.  The book review will be due Tuesday, March 31st!
  • We are lucky to have a special guest coming to read to us on Friday, March 6th!  Any guesses about who it will be? Hint: he has a connection to Copperfield!
Math -
We are learning about AREA (length x width = Area). Today we made funny clown faces with POLYGONS and calculated the area of the nose, mouth, eyes and whole head!  They were pretty funny looking. Can you explain to your parents what a polygon is? Hint: it is not a regular square or rectangle! Challenge: Can you figure out the area of your bedroom, by using your STEPS or another way?  If so, record your room shape and dimensions (2D) on a piece of paper with your name and share it with me tomorrow (March 5th).

Science:
We are finishing up Light and Shadows and continuing our building challenges for Simple Machines.  Please start collecting boxes, usable items from your recyclables as we will begin building our Coppercares projects in about a month! Please start bringing in these items just after Spring Break because we have very little space to store the supplies.

IMPORTANT -
IF YOU APPLIED FOR A JOB, YOUR INTERVIEW IS TOMORROW, MARCH 5th!!!!!!  Please be calm, but prepared! If so, YOU GOT THIS!

THANKS TO OUR WONDERFUL STUDENTS FOR YOUR
PERSEVERANCE, PATIENCE and THOUGTHFUL ACTIONS!
Each day, I feel grateful to teach you!
